( SYNOPSIS )

Inspired by the Roly-poly toy, a half sphere was built to be the stage. The performer evolves on top of it in a durational choreography. During the performance the stage and the performer will continuously be on the move for 6 hours.

Gustavo Sumpta was born in 1970 in Luanda, and currently lives and works in Lisbon. As a visual artist, he has held several individual exhibitions, including Luto at Galeria Casa A Molder,Lisbon (2020), Coser a Língua ao Céu-da-Boca,Rosalux, Berlin (2017); Gustavo Sumpta, Ar Sólido, Lisbon (2015); Boa hora para trabalhar, Uma certa falta de coerência, Porto (2014); Enquanto o sangue corre a pique, Parkour, Lisbon (2013). His work was also present in collective exhibitions such as O Tempo e o Modo, para um retrato da pobreza em Portugal,Pavilhão 31, Lisbon (2015); A Natureza ri da Cultura, Museu da Luz, Alqueva (2013); Gyumri Biennial, Ethnographic Museum of Gyumri (Armenia); and Prize EDP, New artists, Central do Freixo, Porto. As a performer, Gustavo Sumpta presented Roly-Poly toy, at Festival Temps dImage (2020), Levantar o Mundo (2020), at Festival Cumplicidades in Lisbon, Pó de lâmpada, Galeria Pedro Oliveira, Porto, and ZDB, Lisbon (2015); Comboio Fantasma, Calçada do Combro, Lisbon (2012); A raiz da fruta, Point d’impact Festival, Geneva (2010); Assim não vais longe, RE.AL, Lisbon (2008); Amigo do meu amigo não é meu amigo, Centro Cultural de Vila Flor, Guimarães (2006); and Vitória, vitória, acabou.se a história, Toxic project, Fundição de Oeiras, Oeiras.
